LIVESTRONG Leaders
LIVESTRONG serves people fighting cancer and empowers them to take action.
Through the LIVESTRONG Leader program, we engage individuals across the globe who are passionate about and committed to making cancer a priority in their own community. LIVESTRONG Leaders are vital to the success of LIVESTRONG by acting as official LIVESTRONG representatives within their communities, raising awareness and educating others about our programs and services, recruiting and engaging others in the LIVESTRONG movement, fundraising and demanding change of elected officials at the local, national and global level.
All LIVESTRONG Leaders are asked to commit to do the following:
- Participate in and lead efforts around LIVESTRONG campaigns and initiatives, both online and in your own communities:
- An example of online action: Adding your name to a petition and sending it to friends, asking them to do the same.
- An example of community action: Sharing your personal cancer story and/or information about LIVESTRONG navigation resources at a community gathering.
- Participate in and lead efforts on LIVESTRONG Day:
- LIVESTRONG Day is LIVESTRONG's annual day to raise cancer awareness. Held on October 2, LIVESTRONG Day brings together people all over the world to recognize the power of collective action in fighting the global cancer crisis. Leaders engage by wearing yellow and hosting events in their community.
- Report to LIVESTRONG regularly on your Leader activities
- LIVESTRONG wants to support, highlight and evaluate the actions our Leaders are taking, so we ask that Leaders regularly share with us the activities in which they have participated.
- Initiate their own community-based activities in one or more areas of raising awareness and educating others about our programs and resources, fundraising and demanding change of elected officials.
Leaders receive trainings, access to other Leaders, unique opportunities to engage in LIVESTRONG activities and helpful tools and resources to ensure they are successful.
Leaders are accepted through an application process. The application is now closed and will reopen in late 2012.
