Our son is here today because of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I was a Yellow Jersey Member in 2001 and had the opportunity to meet Dr. Craig Nichols, Lance's Oncologist, while at the Ride for the Roses event when I was just three days out of 26 rounds of chemotherapy with my second bout of testicular cancer.

Dr. Nichols suggested I not have a scheduled surgery at Stanford, a surgery that would have left me unable to have any more children. I took his advice and my wife and I conceived our son Josh a little more than a year later.

I started a golf tournament in an effort to give back to the Foundation, and it got a bit bigger than we ever had imagined, raising over $800,000 in our first six years (as of 2010) and it now benefits 20 different cancer organizations each year. We always send the most to the Lance Armstrong Foundation though, donating over $250,000 since 2005.
