The Events Manager is responsible for the execution, implementation and production of all endurance, virtual and signature events for Livestrong. This position will contribute to the creation of meaningful and impactful events that garner press and brand awareness, foster strong community relations, increase revenue, donor loyalty and acquire new supporters.

The Manager must be able to demonstrate internal team collaboration while employing an entrepreneurial, collaborative and results-oriented approach to lead and drive the production of high-quality events that advance our brand, donor involvement, cultivation and stewardship.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the execution of the Livestrong teams’ participation in endurance events around the country
  • Responsible for the execution of Livestrong’s signature event in Austin, Challenge
  • Provides expertise to third-party fundraisers in the planning and execution of events designed to benefit Livestrong but not executed by the Foundation.
  • Serve as central coordinator for virtual events and fundraisers
  • Provide expert knowledge and training to other staff when needed to support projects
  • Support the development of materials such as Best Practices, FAQs, and training slides to support volunteers, participants, and event support staff
  • Identify and recommending appropriate platforms and features to use for different types of events when necessary
  • Serve as logistics event lead during the rehearsal, live event, or virtual event.
  • Negotiates with venues, consultants and vendors to secure rates that enhance budgets.
  • Manages consultants and vendors prior to and during the event to ensure flawless efficiency
  • Works within and oversees financial reporting of events
  • Works with the Development and Events team to develop content for event advertisement, signage and other logistical communications
  • Oversees the post-event coordination including but not limited to debrief meetings, financial reporting and data transfer.
  • Informs and updates staff members and other involved parties throughout the event cycle.
  • Manages internal and external event volunteers
  • Manages the Event & Challenge inbox and phone line
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years of experience in managing in person and virtual fundraising activities
  • Prior experience managing event coordination
  • The flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings and occasional weekends due to the nature of our events
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skill
  • The ability to work effectively with donors, volunteers and staff
  • Display superior judgment and diplomatic skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Proven strong negotiating skills
  • Enthusiasm, commitment to excellence, self-motivation, a professional demeanor, is highly organized and detail oriented
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks with organization and accuracy
  • A collaborative, team-oriented attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet research
  • Experience working with Salesforce, Classy, and other digital platforms a plus
